Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal Convenes Meeting To Review Punjab's New Agriculture Policy

On Thursday, Punjab Agriculture Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal convened a high-level review meeting at Punjab Bhawan to discuss the state's new agricultural policy. He discussed all aspects of the new agriculture policy with a team of top officials and agricultural experts.

The meeting was attended by eminent agronomists Dr. Gurdev Singh Khush and Dr. BS Gill. Dr. Khush is a rice variety development expert, and Dr. Gill has extensive wheat variety development experience; both scientists are internationally renowned.

Dhaliwal told reporters that the state government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is working hard on a new agriculture policy to make agriculture profitable. He claimed that no government has focused on the welfare of farmers since independence, particularly on making agriculture a profitable occupation.

He stated that on the martyrdom day of Bhagat Singh and his companions, they took an oath to leave no stone unturned in constructing the Punjab of Bhagat Singh's dreams. He reaffirmed his commitment to renaming the state "Rangla Punjab."

According to the agriculture minister, such a system will be developed so that young people do not migrate to other countries. On this occasion, he also urged citizens to submit suggestions for the new agricultural policy by March 31.

He stated that any Punjab resident can send their suggestions to 75080-18998 on WhatsApp, 0172-2969340 on the phone, or farmercomm@punjabmail.gov.in via email. In addition, suggestions can be sent in writing to the Punjab State Farmers Commission, Airport Road, Mohali.

He stated that the Punjab government supports farmers and that it is their responsibility to develop good, solid, and meaningful policies for the state's agriculture. Dhaliwal hoped that by the end of June this year, the people of Punjab would have a new agricultural policy.

He stated that the new agricultural policy is being developed with the geographical situation of Punjab, soil health, crop availability, and water in mind. People's suggestions will also be taken into account, he added.

Dhaliwal expressed concern that the previous governments' irresponsible attitude and wrong policies had resulted in Punjab's clean water, clean air and environment, and healthy fertile land becoming polluted water, poisonous air, and non-fertile land. He stated that this phenomenon will be changed in the future with a clear policy and intention.

He stated that agriculture is more than just a business; it is a life issue. The agriculture minister emphasized the importance of eradicating agricultural insecurity and stated that the state government will move forward with everyone's help to save agriculture.
