Kubota, a renowned Japanese tractor manufacturer, has unveiled an enhanced version of its autonomous AgriRobo at Agritechnica 2023. The new AgriRobo M5002 is equipped with advanced features such as GPS steering and obstacle detection, making it a valuable asset for farmers and growers.

The AgriRobo M5002 is currently only available for purchase in Japan, but Kubota plans to introduce it to the European market once regulatory frameworks are established. The tractor is specifically designed for fruit and vegetable growers, and it can be used in a variety of operational modes, including manual control, remote control, full autonomous mode, and master-slave mode.

The tractor boasts a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) within the M5002 model, setting it apart in terms of efficiency and performance.

Back in 2017, Kubota made waves by launching autonomous tractors, starting with the 60 hp model named AgriRobo, in the Japanese market. These self-driving workhorses quickly became a hit, proving their efficiency in various agricultural tasks across Japan. Kubota is now unveiling the AgriRobo MR 1000 A, a powerhouse equipped with a formidable 100 hp diesel engine. The features are hoped to meet the growing demands of modern agriculture.

Kubota currently focuses on efficiency and productivity. It also aims to provide farmers with a reliable and high-performance solution that aligns with the advancements in contemporary agriculture.

M5002 comes equipped with a specially developed CVT designed for tractors with power ranging from 80 to 110 hp. This unique feature enables the AgriRobo to seamlessly accelerate from a standstill to working speed without the need for human intervention. Additionally, the AgriRobo Kubota M5 is fitted with electric valves, further streamlining its operations.

The AgriRobo Kubota M5 offers farmers and growers multiple operational modes. Users can opt for manual control, remote control operation, full autonomous mode, or even employ the master-slave principle, where one tractor is manually operated while another autonomously follows suit.

AgriRobo Kubota M5 is currently only available for purchase in Japan. This is attributed to the clarity of regulations surrounding autonomous driving in the Japanese market. Kubota expresses its readiness to introduce the autonomous tractor to the European market once regulatory frameworks are established.

Fruit growers, particularly in orchards, and vegetable growers are the primary target markets for this autonomous tractor. Notably, the tractor is showcased alongside a Kubota hoe, which is technically identical to the Kverneland hoe, catering to the specific needs of fruit and vegetable cultivation.
