'Kisan Mahapanchayat' At Ramlila Maidan Today, Check The Routes Before Stepping Out

Thousands of farmers from across the nation are marching to Delhi's Ramlila Maidan on Monday to protest for a minimum support price at the ‘Kisan Mahapanchayat’.

Today in Delhi, a Mahapanchayat has been convened by the 'Union Kisan Morcha', and plans are being made to ring the centre. Farmers have reassembled at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan under the auspices of the SKM organization after a three-year absence.

At this Mahapanchayat, farmers will make their 10-point demands and have a Mahapanchayat in front of around 20,000 members of the All India Kisan Mastur Sabha from 11 states. In light of the Kisan Mahapanchayat, Delhi police is on high alert. A traffic advisory has also been issued, and approximately 25 companies of paramilitary and Delhi Police have been deployed.

In light of this, Delhi Police have issued a traffic advisory to residents of the city and deployed over 2,000 security personnel to ensure people's safety and security.

The SKM has made the following demands:

1. Based on the Swaminathan Commission's recommendation and assured procurement, a law to guarantee minimum support price (MSP) for all crops using the C2 + 50% formula should be enacted and implemented immediately.

2. The dismissal of the Centre's MSP committee and the formation of a new committee with adequate farmer representation, including SKM representatives.

3. All farmer loans should be waived immediately, and input prices, including fertilizer, should be reduced.

4. The Electricity Amendment Bill, 2022, has been withdrawn and referred to the Joint Parliamentary Committee.

5. Ajay Mishra, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, was fired and imprisoned.

6. Compensation and rehabilitation will be provided to the families of all farmers who died during the 2020-2021 farm protests and at Tikonia in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri.

7. Replacing the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana with a universal, comprehensive, and effective crop insurance and compensation package for all crops, to compensate farmers for losses caused by drought, flood, hailstorm, untimely and/or excessive rain, crop-related diseases, wild animals, stray cattle, and other factors.

8. Immediate implementation of a Rs 5,000 per month farmer pension scheme for all farmers and agricultural laborers.

Traffic Officer, It is expected that around 20 thousand farmers will gather, but United Kisan Morcha leaders claim that more than one lakh farmers will participate in this maha panchayat. Farmers are traveling to Delhi from Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Odisha, and states ranging from West Bengal to South India.

According to the traffic police, the roads around Ramlila Maidan are congested, so people should avoid Jawaharlal Nehru Marg. Farmers can park at Rajghat, Shanti Van, Mata Sundari Road, Pragati Power House, and other nearby locations. As people walk from there to the Ramlila Maidan, traffic will be stopped at various points to allow them to cross safely.
