Khaps and Farmers' Unions Call for All-Religion Conference in Haryana Today
This conference holds the promise of not only addressing immediate communal tensions but also nurturing a climate of understanding, cooperation, and shared values. The organizers aim to create a platform where dialogue and empathy can overcome divisive narratives, fostering a united front against forces that seek to sow discord in society.
In an effort to foster peace and unity in the midst of escalating communal tensions, various khap leaders, members of the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha, and representatives from diverse civil societies are coming together to organize a 'sarva dharma sammelan' (all-religious conference) in Jind on Saturday. The initiative seeks to bridge gaps and promote harmony among different religious communities in the state.
The communal tensions in Haryana have raised concerns about the divisive agendas that threaten social harmony. To counter these attempts and advocate for peaceful coexistence, leaders from different khaps and social organizations have united to host this conference.
According to khap leaders, a delegation comprising khap heads, Sanyukt Kisan Morcha leaders, and representatives from various civil societies will also visit the Nuh district. Their mission is to reach out to the local population, encouraging them to prioritize peace and unity above all else.

Anil Godara, the head of Rajthal village in Hisar, expressed his concerns about the divisive strategies aimed at creating communal rifts for political gains. He stated, "There is a conspiracy to divide people on communal lines, to garner votes." He also questioned the authorities' response to instances like the controversial statements and videos circulated by cow vigilante Monu Manesar. "The communal incident can't take place without the patronage of the government," he asserted. "We will reach out to villages and urge people to maintain peace."
Azad Palwa, a prominent farmer unionist based in Jind, emphasized the inclusive nature of the 'sarva dharma sammelan.' He mentioned that people from all religious backgrounds will participate, sending a resounding message of unity amidst diversity. "Our delegation of the peace committee has decided to visit the affected area soon," Palwa added, highlighting the commitment of the participants to actively engage with the communities facing tensions.
