Kejriwal Government Initiates Bio-Decomposer Spraying on Agricultural Lands
Gopal Rai assured that the Delhi Government has directly procured the bio-decomposer liquid from the PUSA Institute, and the spraying process will be closely monitored under their supervision.
Delhi's Arvind Kejriwal government has launched a green initiative, announcing the commencement of bio-decomposer spraying on the city's agricultural lands. According to a press release from the Office of the Development Minister, Gopal Rai, this environmentally-conscious move was officially inaugurated at Tigipur, Delhi.
Gopal Rai, the Development Minister, shared that the Delhi Government's ambitious plan for this year is to cover over 5,000 acres of agricultural land with bio-decomposer spraying. To tackle this task effectively, the government has assembled 13 dedicated teams. In a positive gesture, the government has decided to provide the bio-decomposer spraying service free of cost to farmers for both Basmati and non-Basmati crops.
As per the official statement, farmers have shown keen interest by filling out forms expressing their desire to have their fields treated with bio-decomposers. Gopal Rai emphasized, "Under the leadership of CM Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi Government has devised a comprehensive 15-point Winter Action Plan to combat pollution. Stubble burning, a major contributor to rising pollution levels in Delhi during winters, is one of the issues addressed in these 15 points." He further added, "This year, we're taking proactive measures to prevent the situation from worsening. Today, we kickstart a campaign to spray bio-decomposers, prepared by the PUSA Institute (Indian Agricultural Research Institute, IARI), on the stubble. Some areas in Delhi cultivate paddy."

Gopal Rai highlighted that the Delhi Government provided free bio-decomposer spraying over the past few years to discourage stubble burning. This approach not only led to stubble decomposition but also enhanced soil fertility. The government's swift action aimed to eliminate any scheduling conflicts for farmers between paddy harvesting and wheat sowing, ensuring they achieve better results.
Rai shared, "Last year, we sprayed bio-decomposers on 4,400 acres of rural agricultural land in Delhi. This year, our goal is to expand our coverage to 5,000 acres to prevent stubble burning." He expressed his directive to the Agriculture Department to expedite the bio-decomposer spraying for farmers who have already submitted their forms. Rai also mentioned that 880 farmers have already filled out these forms for the free service, and 13 department teams have been created to handle the operation.
