Officials revealed an excellent initiative on Saturday aimed at revolutionizing farming methods through real-time weather updates and soil analysis. In South Kashmir's Kulgam district, a cutting-edge automatic weather station has been established as a pivotal component of the ongoing Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in the Pombai locality of Kulgam, Kashmir.

Senior Scientist and Head at KVK Pombai Kulgam, Manzoor Ahmad Ganai, highlighted that the installation of the weather station aims to directly benefit the farming community. This multifunctional station provides real-time updates on crucial factors such as wind direction, temperature, humidity, wind speed, soil temperature, soil moisture, solar radiation, solar intensity, and even insights into pest activity.

Ganai also noted that the primary focus of the weather station is pest detection, offering farmers early warnings about potential threats to their crops. Those registered with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) receive valuable guidance for optimal farming practices.

Ganai explained that timely decisions, such as scheduling orchard sprays based on weather forecasts, can prevent economic losses caused by the high costs and labor associated with pesticides.
