Kailash Choudhary Visits ICAR-CIWA Bhubaneswar, Emphasizes Women's Role in Agribusiness
Recently Kailash Choudhary visited ICAR – CIWA Bhubaneswar. He appreciated the efforts and activities done by several women engaged in the agriculture sector. Through his interactions with several women entrepreneurs, Farm women, FPO members, and many others, he has emphasized women's role in agribusiness can lead to greater heights.
On May 15, 2023, Kailash Choudhary, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare visited ICAR- Central Institute for Women in Agriculture (CIWA) for retrospection and review meetings.
In the meeting, Choudhary had conversations with farm women groups. He encouraged women for joining the Self Help Groups (SHGs) or Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs). He also told women to join the existing SHGs and handle the agribusiness. This will help them to gain more knowledge and avail different benefits from several schemes facilitated to them.
He also shared information about ICAR-CIWA, which organizes a MEGA fair with businesses, women FPOs, and other stakeholders in order to promote women's entrepreneurship, boost revenue, and improve marketing opportunities.
He also added that women can easily handle this department. He emphasized the importance of women using their free time to improve agriculture, particularly in the areas of crops and animals.

On this occasion, special arrangements were conducted to showcase several activities done by Women Self Help Groups or FPOs which were valued and appreciated by Minister Kailash Choudhary.
On his visit to ICAR–CIWA, he also interacted with women entrepreneurs, SHG members, FPO members, staff of the institute, farm women, and many more. He was very impressed by the works and ideas shared by several women.

The honoree's guest of honor, Dr. Bimlesh Mann, ADG (EP&HS), ICAR, emphasized the significance of the institute for agricultural women's empowerment in the nation.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Mridula Devi, Director of ICAR-CIWA, described the role that ICAR-CIWA has played in empowering rural women through its research, training, and extension efforts.
