Illegal mines: Three tractors seized in Paonta Sahib
Police in Paonta Sahib today seized three trailer-trailers and evacuated challans carrying mines outside the M-form in the Manpur Devra area. A fine of Rs 29,000 was received, said DSP Bir Bahadur.

Police in Paonta Sahib today seized three tractorr-trailers and evacuated challans carrying mines outside the M-form in the Manpur Devra area. A fine of Rs 29,000 was received, said DSP Bir Bahadur.

In addition, two tractors were seized on the banks of the Yamuna River in Bhuppur, along with the Paonta Sahib this morning by a DSP-led team and the Paonta Sahib SHO under the Mining Act.
Police arrested 13 tractors three days ago. DC, Extra DC, SDM, Senior Magistrates, SPs, Extra SPs, DSPs, Forest Conservatives, Forestry Officers, Forestry Assistants, Ethnic Forestry Officers, Regional Industrial Center general manager and mining officials they are authorized to book those evildoers.

As the mines are confined to the Dehradun belt, the quarry from the rivers in the Paonta Sahib cater for the needs of construction projects there. "The level of the mines is so high that one has to fight over congestion when traveling on the Paonta Sahib-Vikas Nagar route after 9pm as there is an influx of trailers on the highway," said Hari Om, a passenger.
