IIM Kashipur to Host ‘Uttishtha 2024’, a Celebration of Agri-Entrepreneurship on 27,28 Jan

IIM Kashipur is set to host Uttishtha 2024, a two-day agricultural startup fair from January 27 to 28, aiming to unite startups, experts, and investors. Over 1,000 students and 100 startups are expected to participate, enhancing the growth of agri startups.

IIM Kashipur will host the seventh edition of Uttishtha 2024, a two-day startup fair focused on agriculture, happening from January 27 to 28. With support from the Department of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, the goal is to bring together agricultural startups, industry experts, and investors to share insights about entrepreneurship.

The fair, organized by the Foundation for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development (FIED) and IIM Kashipur e-cell, aims to encourage entrepreneurship, creativity, and collaboration. They're expecting over 1,000 B-school students, 20 vice-chancellors, and entrepreneurs, with projections of 10,000 visitors and 100 startups participating in the summit.

During the initial day of the summit, there will be events such as Udaan 7.0 (pitching competition), HULT prize, and live startup pitching competition. The following day will incorporate activities like career counseling sessions, cultural displays, science fairs, and a celebrity night. These contests are designed to discover new ideas and give participants the chance to present in front of esteemed venture capitalists, entrepreneurs, academicians, and angel investors.

IIM Kashipur FIED CEO Ram Kumar highlighted the impact of the Uttishtha-'Agri Mela' Startup Expo, noting that over the past seven years, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has supported more than 140 startups with funding totaling Rs. 320 crore. The initiative has become a significant driver of agri-startup success, promoting creativity and contributing to positive socioeconomic impacts by elevating the standards of living for 500,000 farmers and generating employment.

The FIED, IIM Kashipur’s incubation center, has actively supported startups, organizing 18 startup boot camps in 13 districts of Uttarakhand in 2022-23. This outreach has engaged 2,500 college students and micro-entrepreneurs, further contributing to the growth and development of the startup ecosystem.
