Hyderabad: Integrated Biological Control Laboratory Inaugurated by Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare at NIPHM

Recently Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar Inaugurated the Integrated Biological Control Laboratory in Hyderabad. Tomar appreciated team members and staff for their excessive hard work and contribution to developing the agriculture sector.

On Monday Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare inaugurated the Integrated Biological Control Laboratory at the National Institute of Plant Health Management( NIPHM) in Hyderabad.

After the inauguration, he accentuated more upon the application of biocontrol for pests. The chemical pesticide has created a colossal reck upon the environment. Therefore its usage will help to reduce the cost of cultivation and improve farmers' standard of living.

He highlighted on importance and value of technologies developed in the laboratory, which should be taken to the farmers having the least information and less awareness.

He also emphasized upon avoidance of chemical pesticide application and more importance to be given to the least pesticide residue.  All agricultural products or commodities should be produced organically while being exported to foreign markets.

Tomar also celebrated and appreciated all the staff and members of NIPHM for their extremely hard work and dedication in contributing to the agriculture sector.

According to Narendra Singh Tomar, the new Integrated Bio Control Laboratory (BC Lab) is the state-of-the-art laboratory in NIPHM, which will facilitate several methodologies for the production of biopesticides, Biocontrol agents like Predators and parasitoids, Entomopathogenic fungi, Biofertilizers, NPV, Pheromone, and Botanicals.

The BC Lab will also include several museums like the Insect Museum, exhibition halls, a natural farming cell, and several others. This setup is done to highlight specimens of agriculturally significant insects and weeds in their preserved form. This will create awareness among people.

NIPHM consists of highly qualified members that are trying to develop significant technologies for good agriculture growth. NIPHM also promotes sustainable agriculture practices like Agro Ecosystem Analysis(AESA) and Ecological Engineering (EE) for pest management.

NIPHM will be also conducting various training sessions for insect pests and disease management. These training sessions will be conducted and attended by high officials and authorities working in prominent Agriculture Universities, KVKs, ICAR institutes, farmers, and private organizations.

The leading officers shall be able to train farmers in respective areas so that they can adopt sustainable agriculture practices. They should be able to provide knowledge to farmers and help to improve their skills.
