Emphasizing that the technology available at affordable prices can revolutionize the agricultural sector, a team of software experts from Hyderabad will soon become farmers themselves in the next few weeks. They will cultivate some land and sow the seeds next weekend to embark on a short journey of meeting real-world agricultural challenges with Tech-Enabled Solutions.

Over the next 45 days, 100 professionals will go into the fields in groups of five and work on the land allotted to them each weekend until they have harvested their produce and marketed them digitally.

The "Agriculture Hackathon" is the first, where technicians, with the help of each team's agricultural expert, do everything from preparing the land to selling the produce - rather than asking them to understand the challenges on the ground. Farmers for this” said Sudeep Kumar Makthala, who announced the competition in coordination with the Telangana Information Technology Association and the Telangana Agricultural Engineers Association.

For this, 2 acres of land have been identified in Yadvalli village, Utkur zone, Narayanpet district. Each team - four IT professionals and one agricultural expert - is presented with challenges in the form of 121 square yards of the area and problem descriptions.

“We chose to start gardening. We are considering a cost-effective application for drone cameras for pest detection, AI technology for data analysis, robotics for automated planting, sensors for water sprinkling, and other innovations. He said it would present a variety of technical challenges for teams to work alongside agriculture.

Maktala Agriculture invites more technicians to participate in the hackathon, describing it as a unique learning experience for technicians working on computers during office hours. At each stage, teams study and implement different farming methods and innovations and are guided by agricultural experts through discussions.

"When there are affordable solutions to the challenges we know and we keep farm mechanization close to the farmer, we can help more people farm." Among the challenges, participants need to find solutions to market and market their products digitally.
