HP, J&K Apple Demand Heightens, As Quake Hits Turkey

Recently as Turkey suffered a major earthquake hits, it has increased apple prices by up to 30%. As the transportation and shipments of apples have been in halt from Turkey, hence prices have been hiked up to 25%. But this gives additional support to home growers who were having stiff competition with the Turkish quality apples.

J&k, Himachal Pradesh major apple growers

Tarun Arora, director of IG Worldwide fruit agency also addressed that “ The extreme earthquake that rocked Turkey final month has impacted exports of apples from the nation to India. The home demand is now being met by the apples produced in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.”

He also included that since India also received Iranian Apples, recent earthquake events, and ongoing protests within their nation have resulted in rock-bottom shifts in prices for apples. He also told that “In Iran due to the high population and large economic system, there has been a drop in exports from this nation”.

J&K and Himachal Pradesh are the two regions producing apples majorly. Infact J&K produces 140 million bins of apples annually whereas Himachal Pradesh produces 30 million. This proves complete dependency on apple growing and a major reason for residing.

Ravinder Chauhan president of, Apple Growers Affiliation of India told “Indian apples are extra in demand within the home market, not like final 12 months. A field of around 24 kg of apples was promoted at ₹2,000 final 12 months. These 12 months' costs have gone as much as ₹2,500 per kg.”

Mentioning this he also said, “That is good for the apple producers within the nation as it can give them a fillip to extend manufacturing and enhance the standard of apples.”

As Earthquakes hits Turkey they have resulted in additional benefits to India, especially for tea exports.
