Himachal Pradesh Farmers to Receive ₹925 Crore Boost for Agricultural Infrastructure Development
The infusion of ₹925 crore into the agricultural sector is poised to not only empower individual farmers but also contribute to the overall growth and sustainability of agriculture in Himachal Pradesh.

In a significant move to enhance agricultural infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh, farmers in the state are set to gain access to ₹925 crore in loans through the Agricultural Infrastructure Fund scheme. This initiative aims to empower farmers to establish crucial facilities such as cold storage units, processing units, warehouses, and packaging units.
Under the Agricultural Infrastructure Fund scheme, individuals can avail themselves of loans of up to ₹2 crore at a nominal interest rate of 6%. The scheme is designed to encourage the establishment of new units and the renovation of existing ones, providing a much-needed financial impetus to the agricultural sector in the state.

A recent brainstorming session held on Saturday brought together farmers, bank representatives, and officials from relevant departments, aiming to raise awareness about the scheme. The event, presided over by Agriculture Minister Chandra Kumar, sought to disseminate information about the financial support available and encourage widespread participation.
Agriculture Secretary C Palarasu, addressing the gathering, underscored the versatility of the Agricultural Infrastructure Fund scheme. He emphasized that the initiative accommodates the establishment of new units while also providing support for the renovation of existing facilities. This flexibility is expected to cater to the diverse needs of farmers across Himachal Pradesh.

The scheme encompasses a wide range of facilities critical to the agricultural supply chain, including warehouses, silos, cold chains, logistics facilities, packing houses, e-marketing platforms, grading and sorting units, primary processing units, and fruit ripening units. By providing financial assistance for these essential components, the government aims to bolster the overall agricultural ecosystem, ensuring better storage, processing, and marketing capabilities for farmers in the state.
