On Saturday, Deputy Chief Minister of Haryana, Dushyant Chautala, announced that the state government will be hiring "kshatipurti sahayak" to aid revenue officials in evaluating crop damages caused by unfavorable weather conditions in the region.

Chautala disclosed that farmers have already reported losses of over 16.83 lakh acres of crops through the kshatipurti portal and that a special "girdawari" survey is being conducted to assess the extent of damages.

During a press conference, the deputy chief minister revealed that the recent unseasonal rains, along with hailstorms and strong winds that occurred in February and March, had caused significant damage to crops in various regions of the state.

To address this issue, the government has decided to employ individuals known as "kshatipurti sahayaks", who will be locals from the village, to aid the revenue officials in assessing the extent of the crop damage caused by adverse weather conditions.

The deputy chief minister further explained that each "kshatipurti sahayak" will be responsible for conducting a survey of 500 acres within a specific block.

According to the deputy chief minister, farmers in districts such as Charkhi Dadri, Jind, Kaithal, Mahendragarh, Rewari, and Sonipat have suffered crop losses on over one lakh acres of land.

In terms of GST collection, the state has managed to mobilize Rs. 33,527 crores in the current financial year 2022-23, ranking fourth after Dadra Nagar Haveli, Sikkim, and Goa. The state also collected Rs. 9,687 crores through excise in the previous financial year. However, due to the excise policy of Punjab, which reduced its duties, several liquors vend situated near the Punjab-Haryana border in the state have reported losses.

When asked to comment on some BJP leaders suggesting that the party should contest the upcoming elections independently, Chautala mentioned that there have been concerns raised about their alliance since the formation of the government in 2019. Senior BJP leader Birender Singh has also expressed his opinion about fighting the next Lok Sabha elections alone.

Chautala acknowledged that the alliance with BJP has worked towards making the state progressive in the past three and a half years, resulting in progress in various fields. However, he also mentioned that he cannot predict what the future holds, as he is not an astrologer.

When questioned about the possibility of his party, JJP, contesting elections independently, and his supporters urging him to run for the position of Chief Minister of Haryana, Dushyant Chautala chose not to give a direct response.

Instead, he referred to a recent speech by the Prime Minister on the occasion of BJP's foundation day. The Prime Minister had mentioned that BJP, which once had only two members, now has over 300. Chautala implied that just as BJP has expanded its reach, there is no need to limit JJP's growth to only ten seats.

Both parties are preparing to contest all 90 seats in Haryana, and the decision on the future alliance will depend on the circumstances at that time.

Regarding JJP's participation in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Haryana, Chautala stated that it will depend on the future, but the party is ready to contest all ten seats.

When asked about the possibility of forming an alliance with Congress in the future, Chautala made it clear that he is currently in an alliance with the BJP and has no plans of exploring any other options.

This statement comes after Haryana BJP President, Om Prakash Dhankar, reaffirmed the strong and successful partnership between the BJP and Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) and stated that a decision regarding their joint participation in the upcoming parliamentary election will be taken at a later stage.

The JJP had joined forces with the BJP in 2019 to form the government in Haryana as neither party was able to secure a majority on their own.
