Haryana's Deputy Chief Minister, Dushyant Chautala, has taken a resolute stance to support farmers grappling with the aftermath of recent floods. With a proactive approach, he has assured farmers whose crops suffered damage due to the floods that they will receive compensation directly in their bank accounts by September 7. A prominent leader of the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), Chautala highlighted that the compensation disbursement would follow a comprehensive evaluation of the extent of crop losses caused by the deluge.

As the floods not only devastated crops but also resulted in soil erosion and the accumulation of silt in fields, Chautala unveiled a distinctive policy to address this unique challenge. Under this policy, the silt and sand amassed in farmers' fields will be subject to auction. Significantly, one-third of the proceeds, capped at Rs 10 lakh, will be allocated to the farmers, while the remaining two-thirds will be directed to the government's coffers.

Chautala's emphasis on this groundbreaking policy underscores Haryana's distinction as a pioneer, set to become the first state in India to implement such an initiative. This innovative approach underscores the state's commitment to finding forward-looking solutions to the multifaceted challenges facing its agriculture sector.

The flooding's impact reverberates across a substantial expanse, affecting around 4.08 lakh acres of crops in the state. Chautala urged farmers who are yet to report their crop damage on the e-Kshatipurti portal to do so by August 18. Once the damage assessments are collected, they will undergo prompt evaluation, and the compensation will be expediently transferred to the bank accounts of the affected farmers by September 7.

Chautala also extended his attention to the broader implications of the floods. Notably, he revealed that 475 houses bore the brunt of the disaster, with 108 claims already settled and efforts ongoing to address others. Additionally, the deluge inflicted damage on over 1,324 roads, contributing to an estimated loss of approximately Rs 338 crore.

Transitioning to a distinct matter, Chautala acknowledged the Opposition's concerns over similarities in questions found in two recruitment papers for the Common Eligibility Test (CET). He asserted his commitment to address the matter earnestly and initiate discussions with the Chief Minister. Reiterating the government's dedication to transparent recruitment practices, Chautala affirmed the resolve to fill vacant posts, effectively serving Haryana's youth.

Amidst these challenges, Chautala shared encouraging financial news, indicating a robust 20.8% growth in collections for Goods and Services Tax (GST), Value-Added Tax (VAT), and excise duties between April and July, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

Chautala's call for heightened efficiency within the Haryana staff selection commission underscores the government's vision for enhanced governance and seamless institutional functioning, endeavouring to prevent similar incidents involving question-related matters.
