Gujarat Cabinet Announces Relief for Farmers in 13 Districts Affected by Unseasonal Rains

The Gujarat state cabinet has announced a relief package for farmers whose crops were damaged due to unseasonal rainfall in 13 districts. The affected districts are Rajkot, Junagadh, Banaskantha, Aravalli, Tapi, Patan, Sabarkantha, Surat, Kutch, Amreli, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, and Ahmedabad.

 The relief package includes aid from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and additional top-up aid from the state treasury. The exact amount of aid to be disbursed and the date for online applications have not been disclosed yet.

As per SDRF norms, farmers growing wheat, gram, mustard, banana, and papaya are eligible for Rs 13,500 per hectare. They will also receive an additional Rs 9,500 per hectare from the state treasury. This aid is limited to two hectares per farmer.

Farmers growing mango, lemon, and guava will receive Rs 1,8000 per hectare as per SDRF norms and an additional Rs 12,600 per hectare from the state treasury. However, a minimum of Rs 4,000 will be given as aid to the affected farmers, despite the upper limit.

The relief package is aimed at providing support to farmers who have been adversely affected by unseasonal rain. The online application process is yet to be announced. The relief package will benefit farmers engaged in agriculture and help them recover from the loss incurred due to the damage caused by unseasonal rain.
