Gujarat- Amit Shah Inaugurates AMULs Advanced Organic Testing Laboratory in Gandhinagar

Recently AMUL has launched Advanced Organic Testing Laboratory situated in Amul Fed Dairy, Gandhinagar. The lab was inaugurated by Amith Shah. Amul aims to provide quality organic products meeting international standards.

Recently AMUL has set up an Advanced Organic Testing Laboratory located in Amul Fed Dairy Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

The Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) prominently called AMULs setup of Advanced Organic Testing Laboratory was inaugurated on 21st May 2023  by Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation, Govt. of India, Amith Shah.

The ongoing demand for consumption of organic food without the application of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or chemical treatment is a must, and therefore to achieve verified products various laboratories are being built.

To find pesticides, heavy metals, and other contaminants, the laboratory uses a variety of testing approaches and techniques. As a result, consumers are more confident and the public's health is protected. It makes sure that organic food items correspond to national and international organic standards.

Amul in their statement added that “it’s the first organic testing laboratory dedicated to providing pure organic products and support organic producers”.

The organic sector depends on consumer confidence and trust. By delivering accurate test findings and ensuring that organic claims are supported by research, organic testing laboratories play a crucial role in fostering trust. The laboratory fosters market demand for organic produce by protecting the integrity of organic goods, which benefits both farmers and the sector as a whole.

Amul being one of the prominent brands has expanded its market reach by introducing different products including  Organic Basmati Rice, Organic Toor Dal, Organic Chana Dal, Organic Masoor Dal, Organic Moong, Organic Rajma, Organic Besan and Organic Kabuli Chana, told the federation.

Amul Federation, MD, Jayen Mehta told that many advanced technologies and equipment have been added including Gas Chromatograph-Mass Spectrometer (GC-MS), Liquid Chromatograph-Mass Spectrometer (LC-MS), Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (ICP-MS), High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). These were installed in the new Organic testing laboratory at Amul.

The advanced equipment will help to monitor the quality and will analyze the quantity of the product being manufactured. This equipment will also enable in the identification of any toxic elements including chemical treatments, heavy metals, application of fertilizers, etc being used.

Amul targets to provide products in an affordable range meeting international standards.
