Gujarat Aims to Train 3 Lakh Farmers Monthly in Natural Farming Under the New Training Model

Under the new training model implemented by the government, around six lakh farmers in Gujarat have been trained over the past four years in the techniques and principles of natural farming. In an inspiring announcement made during the convocation ceremony at Kamdhenu University, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat shared a roadmap to train a staggering three lakh farmers per month in natural farming. He highlighted the increasing number of farmers in Gujarat who are transitioning to this sustainable agricultural practice, attributing the shift to the inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the dedicated efforts of the state government.

Under the new training model implemented by the government, around six lakh farmers in Gujarat have been trained over the past four years in the techniques and principles of natural farming. This transformative initiative aims to enhance the overall agricultural landscape of the state while promoting environmentally friendly practices.

Governor Devvrat, who is also the Chancellor of Kamdhenu University, urged the graduating students to play an instrumental role in increasing the country's milk yield. Noting that the average milk yield of cattle in India is three-and-a-half liters, he envisioned tremendous progress for the nation if students actively work towards improving cattle breeds to achieve an average milk production of 10 liters.

Highlighting the significance of technology for the development of natural agriculture and milk production, the Governor emphasized efforts to augment the production of sex-selection semen. He acknowledged the crucial work being undertaken in this domain in Gujarat, recognizing its potential to further enhance agricultural productivity and animal husbandry.

Supporting the Governor's address, Parshottam Rupala, Minister of State for Animal Husbandry, Dairying, and Fisheries, also urged the students to contribute to the growth of animal husbandry, fisheries, and the dairy industry in the Indian economy. He mentioned the establishment of mobile veterinary units across the country, similar to the 108 ambulance services, to ensure convenient and prompt medical assistance for animals. In the initial phase, 4,000 mobile veterinary ambulances have been sanctioned, with a budget allocation of Rs 13,000 crore dedicated to the vaccination of animals nationwide.

Raghavji Patel, Gujarat Cabinet Minister of Animal Husbandry and Cattle Breeding, further emphasized the crucial role of animal husbandry, dairy, and fisheries in the economic development of the country. He highlighted Gujarat's notable contribution to making India self-sufficient in milk production and commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for establishing Kamdhenu University in 2009. The university continues to serve as a hub for promoting abundant opportunities in animal husbandry, dairy, fisheries, and related sectors.
