Tractors and other agricultural equipment are eligible for government subsidies. At the same time, irrigation equipment receives a subsidy. To the list of agricultural machinery, a new name for drones has been added. The government will also give a subsidy in this case. Farmers would be eligible for a subsidy of up to Rs 10 lakh to purchase drones.
According to media reports, the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has released rules to make drone technology accessible for stakeholders in the agriculture industry as part of a significant project aimed at increasing quality farming in India. The Sub Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM) rules have been revised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare in order to expand the usage of drones in the country. Subsidies have been made available to various agricultural institutions, enterprises, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and farmers.
Agricultural Machinery Training and Testing Institutes, ICAR Institutes, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, and State Agricultural Universities that acquire agricultural drones would receive a subsidy of up to 100% of the cost of the drones or Rs 10 lakh, whichever is less. This technique will be demonstrated on a broad scale in farmer's fields under this program.
Other recipients, on the other hand, will profit from the subsidy on the purchase of drones. Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) will be eligible for a subsidy of up to 75% of the cost of agricultural drones for the demonstration on farmers' fields under this program.
Aside from that, the current Custom Hiring Center will give financial aid on the acquisition of drones and accessories worth 40% of the original cost of Rs 4 lakh, whichever is less. Agriculture graduates who open bespoke recruiting centers would be eligible for a 50% discount on the cost of the drone and related equipment, as well as a grant of up to Rs 5 lakh towards the purchase of the drone.
