Farmers Will Be Selected On A First-Come, First-Served Basis, Following The Decision To Provide Solar Pumps

The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh (U.P.) has decided to provide farmers with solar pumps. The UP government has decided to provide 10,000 solar pump sets to farmers across the state on a 'first come, first served basis', to ensure that irrigation in Kharif season crops is not a problem. So that farmers do not face financial constraints in irrigation work as a result of the power outage and lack of rain.

Drought Relief will be Provided to Farmers.

According to media reports, Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi stated during the review meeting that the government's decision would provide relief to farmers. The meeting informed that the state had received less than normal rainfall this time, resulting in a drought situation in the state.

To save farmers from drought conditions, solar pumps can be useful in providing uninterrupted electricity for irrigation. The irrigation problem can be solved with the help of a solar pump.

At the same time, there will be no reduction in yield, and agricultural costs will be cut by one and a half times as compared before. As a result, farmers' income will not be affected.

There will be No Need to Rely on Grid-Connected Electricity.

During the review meeting, U.P. Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi stated that "if the government tube wells fail, they will be repaired within 36 hours. If there is a delay in this matter, the responsible department will be held accountable".

During this time, he directed administrative officers to ensure the supply of electricity and the production of golden cards as soon as possible. Farmers will no longer have to rely on grid-connected electricity for agricultural purposes. Sets of solar-powered irrigation pumping systems will be provided. Farmers' fields will have solar panels installed to help them generate electricity for their IP sets.

Solar pumps will be extremely beneficial to rural farmers because farmers are frequently unable to complete irrigation work on time while waiting for electricity to be connected to the grid. They also have to spend more money on diesel for irrigation.

Terms & Conditions and Guidelines for Solar Pumps

  • The solar pumps will be used to irrigate agricultural land only.
  • Farmers will be given solar pumps on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • This scheme will only benefit one person in a family.
  • The scheme will be available to all state farmers who do not have an agricultural electricity connection.
  • Solar pump plants can be installed by cooperative societies, Panchayats, Farmers' Groups, Farmers' Production Organizations, and Water Users' Associations.
  • The farmer should have a constant source of irrigation, and the solar pump should be set up or used per the needs of the desired water storage structure.
