Godrej Agrovet Launches PYNA as Umbrella Brand for Cotton Herbicide

Godrej Agrovet Limited's Crop Protection Business has introduced PYNA, an all-inclusive brand for sustainable cotton cultivation. GAVL, which has been instrumental in introducing selective cotton herbicides in various markets, will now offer its three cotton weed management products, namely Hitweed, Hitweed Maxx, and Maxxcott, under the PYNA brand.

GAVL claimed in a press statement, “Cotton crops have a slow growth rate during their initial stages, and the wider spacing between plants creates an environment where weeds can severely affect cotton yield, reducing it by up to 45-50%. However, PYNA brands offer a comprehensive range of weed management solutions that can be applied from seed sowing up until the active flowering stage, enabling farmers to maintain weed-free crops for an extended period. PYNA brand effectively reduces the competition between the crops and weeds, thereby facilitating the establishment of cotton crops during their early stages, which results in a significant increase in yield.”

GAVL has recently declared that it intends to expand the use of the PYNA brand logo to co-marketers such as Bayer CropScience, Rallis India, Dhanuka Agritech, PI Industries, and Indofil Industries. These co-marketers are supporting farmers in their endeavors to cultivate cotton sustainably by promoting the use of PYNA brand products, which have become a reliable symbol of quality and trust. These products are not only user-friendly but also safe to use, and they help farmers reduce their reliance on manual and mechanical methods of weed control. As a result, GAVL is actively contributing to the growth of the crop protection industry.

According to Rajavelu NK, CEO of Godrej Agrovet's Crop Protection Business, India has the largest area dedicated to cotton cultivation worldwide. However, due to the inadequate treatment of only 10 percent of the total cotton acreage, not only has productivity been affected, but also the profitability of farmers. As a result, to support sustainable cotton production, they are pleased to introduce their PYNA brand which comprises three top-notch offerings.
