Goa- Chinchinim-Deussua Gram Sabha Engages Local Farmers in Drafting Agricultural Policy

The Chinchinim-Deussua gram sabha in Canacona, Goa, is taking a proactive approach to shaping its agricultural future by involving local farmers' clubs and agriculturists in the formulation of a new agricultural policy.
During a recent gathering, panchayat officials disclosed that the draft agricultural policy is awaited, which will subsequently be presented to the villagers for comprehensive deliberation.
Sarpanch Valentino Barretto has extended reassurances to farmers, farming club members, and agricultural practitioners, affirming their pivotal role in shaping the policy's framework. He ensured that their valuable insights would be diligently collected, synthesized, and subsequently shared with the government for seamless integration into the final policy.
In addition to this, community members have raised a red flag concerning temporary residents seeking Aadhaar and voter cards within the village. They have cautioned fellow villagers against hastily providing no-objection endorsements in such instances.

The matter of the panchayat ghar, a community center, also came to the forefront during discussions. Sarpanch Barretto disclosed that fruitful dialogues with Velim MLA Cruz Silva and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant have taken place. Both officials have expressed their willingness to consider the required steps for the panchayat ghar's improvement. Barretto further shared that the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation has approved in this regard, marking a positive stride toward enhancing local infrastructure.
