G20 MACS: Three Day Long Meeting Begins in Varanasi Today

This year, India is hosting the G20 Presidency under the motto 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam'. In Varanasi, there will be a total of six G20 meetings. The first round of these meetings begins on Monday. On the orders of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the entire city has been adorned for this purpose.

Officials say Varanasi will host G20 events for three days beginning Monday, showcasing Uttar Pradesh's rich cultural legacy to the world.

Representatives from 20 of the world's major countries, as well as delegates from other partner countries, will attend the Agriculture Working Group meeting, which will be held in the 'city of light' from April 17 to 19.

The Yogi Adityanath government has made complete preparations for the G20 events, according to an official statement issued here.

It stated that a message will be sent from the realm of Goddess Annapurneshwari to encourage nutritious foods, food security, and environmentally responsible farming.

The first round of these meetings begins on Monday. On the orders of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the entire city has been adorned for this purpose.

In addition, strict security procedures have been put in place. The main gathering will take place at the Taj Hotel. Following that, there will be a 'Kashi tour' for the guests.

Around 80 foreign delegates from G20 countries will attend the activities in Varanasi, including Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the European Union.

MACS (Meeting of Agricultural Chief Scientists) 2023, Sustainable Agrifood System for Healthy People and Planet, will be launched on the first day of the summit.

The meeting's first session will be titled "Food Security and Nutrition: The Role of Science, Technology, and Innovation," and the second session will be titled "Resilient Agri-Food System."

The G20 delegates will attend the world-famous Ganga Aarti in Kashi in the evening.

On the second day, there will be sessions on "Digital Agriculture and Sustainable Agri Value Chains" and "Public-Private Partnership in Agriculture R&D: Perspective from Developed and Developing Countries."

The guests will travel to Sarnath on the evening of April 18 to witness the museum and a light and sound performance, followed by a dinner and cultural programme at Buddha Theme Park.

On April 13, the MACS -2023 communique will be discussed and finalised, and the visitors will tour the Trade Facilitation Centre (TFC) in Bada Lalpur in the afternoon.

The theme of the G20 Indian Presidency is 'One Earth, One Family, and One Future,' which honours the spirit of togetherness and harmony among us in order to ensure the world's bright future.
