Former Chairman Of Mahindra ‘Keshub Mahindra’ Passes Away At The Age of 99

Keshub Mahindra was the company's chairman for 48 years before handing over the reins to his nephew Anand, who stated that his uncle was and will always be an inspiration to him and the whole Mahindra Group.

On April 12, Keshub Mahindra, the former chairman of Mahindra & Mahindra, passed away at the age of 99. In 1947, Mahindra joined his father's company, which was producing and selling utility vehicles at the time. He was the chairman of the conglomerate from 1963 to 2012. He named his nephew Anand Mahindra to succeed him when he resigned.

Mahindra, a Wharton University of Pennsylvania alumnus, transformed the company from a Willys Jeep producer in India to a complex multinational. The $19 billion Mahindra Group has a presence in software services, hospitality, and real estate in addition to being known for its tractors and sport utility vehicles.

His death occurred just days after re-entry into Forbes' list of India's Richest Billionaires for 2023. He was a philanthropist who also contributed to the cause of ethical corporate development in India by serving on numerous important organizations and committees.

Anand Mahindra, the chairman of Mahindra & Mahindra, paid respect to Keshub Mahindra, the company's former chairman, and his uncle, who died on Wednesday at the age of 99.

The government assigned him to panels such as the Sachar Commission on Company Law and MRTP and the Central Advisory Council of Industries. Mahindra served on the Prime Minister's Council on Trade and Industry from 2004 until 2010.

Following his death, condolences poured in for the Mahindra family on social media.
