Flipkart India Launches ‘Flipkart Samarth Krishi’ Programme, To Create National Market Linkage for FPOs

The launch of ‘Flipkart Samarth Krishi’ Programme will help the farmers to get market ready, grow sustainably, and make a place in the mainstream economy through partnerships.

On Thursday, Flipkart India launched the ‘Flipkart Samarth Krishi’ programme with the goal of providing FPOs (Farmer Produce Organisations) and farming communities with national market linkages through the platform.

This programme aims to provide easy market access and build the capacity of Indian farmers. The launch of ‘Flipkart Samarth Krishi’ Programme will also help the farmers to get market ready, grow sustainably, and make a place in the mainstream economy through partnerships.

Flipkart India has active partnerships with several government bodies and industries. For onboarding FPOs, onto its e-commerce platform, the list includes the respective departments of agriculture for the states of, Bihar, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and West Bengal.

Flipkart India has been able to source spices, pulses, and millet directly from farmers and FPOs through these partnerships.  This step has given a boost to local agri-economies and to the livelihoods of thousands of farmers all around the country.  

The Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, of Flipkart Group, Rajneesh Kumar, said, “Flipkart India’s association with farmers and FPOs has been initiated. It is committed to creating avenues for increasing the income and productivity of local farmers and helping them uplift their produce at the country level.

The Flipkart Samarth Krishi programme will speed up India’s socio-economic development with the power of e-commerce, technology, and innovation. It will be advantageous to everyone in the value chain, from farmers to consumers. The programme offers to create a significant positive impact on the Indian agriculture sector and on rural communities.”

With over 100 items such as rice, atta, pulses, whole spices, and millet, the Flipkart Samarth Krishi programme will help scale up the local economy and offer various quality products to over 450 million consumers of Flipkart India.

The company has already onboarded many FPOs across India. Some of these names are Nirala Herbal, ABY Farmers, Sri Sathya Sai MAC Fed, Jana Jeevana, and Sahyadri Farms Supply Chain.
