The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) has called for farmers' efficiency skill development to be prioritized to increase agricultural productivity and reduce cultivation costs.
The Indo-Bangladesh Agri Mechanisation Summit (IBAM) will take place in Dhaka from the 27th to the 29th of January 2023.
The summit will be held at the International Convention City Bashundhara in Dhaka, according to a press release issued by the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI), to create an agri-mechanized ecosystem in Bangladesh to increase food production. The FBCCI leaders met at the organization's office to plan the upcoming summit.
FBCCI Vice President MA Momen stated at the meeting, "India is a world leader in agricultural machinery manufacturing. Their knowledge and technology can help Bangladesh's agricultural mechanization. The IBAM will provide an opportunity for both countries' stakeholders to collaborate."
Amin Healy, Vice President of the FBCCI, stated, "Agri mechanization is currently a hot topic in Bangladesh. Mechanization is more important in the post-harvesting period."
He went on to say, "As a result of the labor crisis and insufficient processing capacity, a significant amount of crops are harmed at the farm level. The summit will serve as a knowledge-sharing platform for local agricultural machinery manufacturers."
The IBAM summit will be held at the International Convention City Bashundhara on January 27, 28, and 29, 2023, in collaboration with the FBCCI and the Indian High Commission in Dhaka.
The Tractor and Mechanization Association (TMA) secretary, Atreyee Talapatra, stated that the summit will be held under the auspices of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and its sister concern, the TMA.
"We don't want to be just buyers of Agri equipment," said FBCCI Director Dr. Ferdousi Begum. We urge manufacturers to increase their investments in the agricultural machinery sector."
The Agri Entrepreneurs encourage manufacturers to create customized equipment for farmers while keeping the local farming culture in mind.
The meeting was attended by FBCCI Director MGR Nasir Majumder, Bijoy Kumar Kejriwal, Hafez Harun, Md Naser, the head of the Mahindra and Mahindra Company's Bangladesh- Farm Equipment sector Sourabh Biswas, and other distinguished guests.
