Farmers to get relief, Ramanathapuram Marketing Committee helps farmers get procurement of their respective products from their doorstep. The actively functioning six regulated markets will help the acquisition of farm produce.

Under Ramanathapuram Marketing Committee, the actively functioning six regulated markets will help the acquisition of farm produce at the doorstep of farmers under the Farm Gate Scheme.

This scheme describes the direct market linkage between farmers and consumers.

This scheme being implemented by National Agriculture Market will help prevent farmers to pay any wages for transporting their produce. 

The six regulated markets functioning under Ramanathapuram Marketing Committee will procure farm products at the doorsteps of farmers under the Farm Gate scheme.

This scheme will benefit the farmers as they neither have to pay any charges for loading and unloading nor have to pay for taking their produce to the market.

Ramanathapuram district Collector, Johny Tom Varghese told that farmers will be getting a good amount of relief.No commission will be required from farmers.

He also told that, as earlier farmers had to go to the regulated market for attaining a good amount for their purchase, which later they would sell at a suitable price. Therefore the regulated markets in Ramanathapuram, Paramakudi, Kamudi, Muthukulathor, Paramakudi, Kamudi, Muthukulathorand Tiruvadanai will help farmers to attain procurement of their respective products from their doorstep.

The Collector also told that in the last 2 months, Farmers have sold paddy worth Rs 40.93 lac, chilly for Rs 5.58 lakh, cotton worth Rs. 4,68 lakh, and coconut, gingerly, and barnyard millet worth Rs. 2 lac.

Farmers can easily get benefits from both Farm Gate Scheme and Regulated Market if they use them efficiently and effectively.
