Farmers & Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee Rally for Flood Compensation, Announce Rail Blockades on Sep 28

In a show of solidarity and determination, several agricultural organizations, alongside the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (KMSC), have issued a call to action in Punjab. On September 28, they plan to stage rail blockades to demand compensation for the losses incurred due to devastating floods.

Today, across the state of Punjab, sixteen prominent farm organizations from North India joined hands with the KMSC to express their discontent with the ongoing G20 summit in Delhi. Symbolizing their frustration, effigies of the Central government were set ablaze during these demonstrations.

Leading the charge during these protests were KMSC State President Sukhwinder Singh Sabhra, Salwinder Singh Jania, a prominent leader, and Gurmail Singh Rerhwan, the District President.

Speaking passionately at the event, Sukhwinder Singh Sabhra expressed deep concerns regarding the G20 summit. He argued that the summit seemed to primarily favor corporate interests, potentially at the expense of the nation's well-being. Sabhra also criticized the state government for what he saw as a transfer of control over natural resources to corporate entities, a trend he feared could concentrate power in the hands of a privileged few, potentially compromising the nation's sovereignty.

Sabhra made it abundantly clear that farmers were united in their demand for just compensation for the losses sustained during the floods that ravaged Punjab. He urged the public to stand in opposition to the G20 summit and announced plans for rail blockades scheduled for September 28. These blockades will take place at various strategic locations throughout Punjab.

This collective action by farmers and the KMSC underscores the urgency of addressing their grievances related to flood compensation. It also highlights their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the interests of the farming community in the region.
