Farmers Demand Hike In Milk, Urges To End The Unfair Competition

Dairy farmer, Dadaso Patil from Solapur urges to bring stability in milk prices. It has become difficult for him to sell milk as he gets the price at very cheaper rates, especially dairies from Karnataka.

He also added that Karnataka Milk Federation charges Rs 27 per liter of milk from farmers. Also, provide additional benefits as dairy farmers get a facility of  Rs 7 as a procurement subsidy by the government. For this reason, farmers are against selling their milk.

He also claimed that KMF sells its milk and several processed milk products under the brand Nandini in Pune and Mumbai. Therefore they sell their produce at cheap rates than the pouched milk.

His milk production accommodates 1000 Liters from 150-odd cows and buffaloes. He also added that in Maharashtra milk procurement by dairies from farmers at Rs 40 is being charged.

Therefore no subsidy is been facilitated to them by the government, Patil added.

To raise this issue Patil and other concerned dairy farmers have sent a letter to Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah.

The letter includes farmers' requests to end the provision of subsidies. To end inequality and unfair competition. This will save farmers and taxpayers money too.
