Enlightening Session For Students And Farmers About Rice

Rice Knowledge Bank (RKB) mobile application training and field testing were done at Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Sonitpur as part of APART. Nearly 35 students from the fourth year of the Rural Agricultural Work Experience Program attended the session (RAWEP). Dr. Arifa M Begum, in-charge Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sonitpur, addressed the attendees, emphasizing the relevance of RKB application for students and farmers seeking competent technical help on crop establishment techniques. She went on to say that the Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Sonitpur will give all kinds of technical assistance and counseling to farmers and students in the district in order to help them establish a stronger agricultural community.

Dr. Roji, Agronomy Subject Matter Specialist and APART Nodal Officer, KVK Sonitpur, greeted the participants and recommended them to study correct scientific agriculture techniques. Dibyarishi Bhattacharjya, an IRRI Junior Researcher, also gave technical assistance to the farmers in the areas of scientific production and post-harvest management technologies in order to boost the farming community's productivity and revenue. He also emphasized the need of employing this digital extension service, which delivers practical knowledge solutions for small-scale farmers in Assam, to bridge the yield gap between research and practice in rice cultivation.

Dr. Prakash Chandra Bora, District Agriculture Officer and Joint Director of Sonitpur District were also present at the event. He stressed the relevance of such applications for farmers and students in developing resource-efficient agricultural establishment methods throughout his lecture. He also emphasized the use of mechanization in farming to help farmers earn more money. The mobile application was also put to the test in the field at the conclusion of the program, with users being assigned particular tasks to complete after exploring the app. They were educated on the many technologies and tools accessible in the application, such as stress-tolerant rice variety production techniques and marketing systems.
