DJI Agriculture Report Highlights Growing Acceptance and Advanced Farming Practices
As agricultural drone technology gains widespread acceptance among farmers worldwide, governments are recognizing the manifold benefits it offers to the industry.
"DJI Agriculture is dedicated to enhancing agricultural efficiency and sustainability through the use of intelligent agricultural drones and digital solutions, in a manner that is environmentally friendly and ecologically responsible," stated Yuan Zhang, Head of Global Sales at DJI Agriculture. "This report underscores the growing global acceptance of agricultural drones and smart farming practices by governments and farmers. These technologies offer a scientific, sustainable, and eco-friendly approach to food production, reducing the reliance on agricultural chemicals while ensuring food security and environmental equilibrium."
The report is organized into several sections, covering DJI Agriculture's activities in 2022/23, Global Policy Trends, Agricultural Drone Tests, Innovations in Drone Applications, and Best Practices.
DJI Agriculture's Activities in 2022/23
In just over a decade since its inception, DJI Agriculture has expanded its reach to six continents, spanning more than 100 countries and regions. By the end of 2022, the global fleet of DJI agricultural drones exceeded 200,000 units, covering a cumulative operating area of over 200 million hectares. This has brought the advantages of aerial technology to millions of agricultural practitioners worldwide. Through training initiatives, 150,000 agriculture drone pilots and 2,500 instructors have been trained, encouraging young entrepreneurs to participate in the field of science and technology agriculture and contribute their talents to the growth of intelligent agriculture.
Global Policy Trends
As agricultural drone technology gains widespread acceptance among farmers worldwide, governments are recognizing the manifold benefits it offers to the industry. Proposals for regulatory revisions have been put forth in Europe, North America, and Brazil. In China, DJI's T16, T20, T10, and T30 agricultural drones have all received airworthiness certification from the CAAC.

Agricultural Drone Tests
Extensive testing has been conducted on the DJI Agras agricultural drone series, including assessments of droplet size, drift, and herbicide application.
Innovations in Drone Application
Drones have been deployed in innovative ways, ranging from pest and disease control in the Maldives to their integration into traditional grape farming techniques and the optimization of potato and rice yields in smart farming. For instance, a large-scale potato farmer in Washington State achieved an 80% reduction in insect damage by conducting spot spraying on a 60-hectare field. In Japan, a local rice producer increased his yield while reducing fertilizer costs, resulting in an additional income of $5,425 per hectare. Some unique use cases include pollination, removal of dead flowers from fruit trees, and the application of antifreeze and sunscreen for fruit trees.
Best Practices
There is ongoing global dialogue regarding the establishment of best practices for agricultural drones, encompassing crew training, advancements in drone technology, pharmaceutical use standards, standard operating procedures, and safety guidelines.
DJI has launched the DJI ACADEMY and has conducted agricultural drone training in various countries, including Thailand, Mexico, Brazil, and Turkey. Novel technologies such as centrifugal nozzles, radar systems, and new cameras have been developed to enhance the intelligence, efficiency, effectiveness, and safety of agricultural production management.
DJI Agriculture not only manufactures drones but also actively collaborates with chemical companies, universities, and professional institutions to collectively explore and develop best practices.
