Digital Innovation Alliance Seeks Global Startup Collaboration
This initiative is aimed at fostering collaboration among 29 countries, thereby creating a comprehensive platform for the growth and development of startups.
According to Jeet Vijay, the CEO of MeitY Startup Hub, the Digital Innovation Alliance (DIA) programme, under India's G20 Presidency, aims to unite the startup ecosystems of G20 nations and nine guest countries. The programme will focus on six key sectors essential to human development, namely agri tech, food security, health tech, fintech, cybersecurity, and circular economy.
This initiative is aimed at fostering collaboration among 29 countries, thereby creating a comprehensive platform for the growth and development of startups. Jeet Vijay shared this information while speaking at the G20-DIA National Roadshow held in New Delhi on Wednesday.
The program aims to provide selected startups with virtual accelerator mentorship, funding support, and opportunities to pitch to investors. The program will conclude with a multi-day event in Bangalore, where participants will have access to global investors, corporations, and government officials, which may lead to potential funding, strategic partnerships, and pilot projects.
The Chairman of the Startup India Seed Fund Committee, HK Mittal, recently spoke about the digital revolution in India, discussing important events in the nation's history that have contributed to its current standing as a leading player in the digital ecosystem. Additionally, Mittal highlighted the digital platform on which the Startup India Seed Fund operates, providing startups with a grant of up to 20 lakh rupees and an investment of up to 50 lakh rupees through various financial instruments. This initiative has helped Indian startups achieve significant growth, even during the challenging times presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Madhusudhan Gupta, the CFO of FIA Global, recently highlighted the crucial role of financial inclusion in India and its potential economic benefits. He stressed the importance of making banking services and credit more accessible, particularly for those in the lower echelons of society. Gupta also recognized the positive impact of microfinance institutions in promoting financial inclusion. According to him, the microfinance sector has experienced significant growth in India over the past five years, with exposure increasing from $14 billion in 2017 to $40 billion in March 2022. This growth has had a direct positive effect on roughly 64 million borrowers and their families, resulting in an overall boost to the economy.
Biplabketan Paul, the Director of Naireeta Services, has highlighted the potential of digital innovation in helping impoverished farmers combat drought and achieve a drought-free India. Naireeta Services is dedicated to empowering farmers to reuse floodwater and overcome droughts using advanced technologies. Their innovative solutions have now been implemented in 18 states within India and 9eight countries around the world. Furthermore, they plan to expand their services to 12 more countries soon. The company's commitment to providing accessible technology to all individuals, irrespective of their technical expertise, is evidenced by its open-source approach and integration of cloud-based solutions.
