Delhi's forest and wildlife department is set to hire 40 individuals for conducting urban farming workshops at the ward level. The initiative, beginning in September, aims to host 400 workshops over the next months, each accommodating around 25 participants.
These workshops planned to commence in September, will equip residents and members of resident welfare associations (RWAs) with the skills for rooftop or balcony farming, utilizing techniques like hydroponic, aeroponic, and container farming.
Interested candidates can apply at https://training.eforest.delhi.gov.in/msby.aspx, requiring a science-related bachelor's degree and fluency in Hindi and English.
Delhi's environment minister, Gopal Rai, introduced this program last month, emphasizing the significance of urban farming amid reduced available land for traditional planting. The trainers will receive training from the Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Combating Climate Change (MGICCC) in a two-day master workshop.
The workshops, catering to 25 to 30 participants in each batch, will occur simultaneously in each ward. These sessions will empower RWAs with the know-how of cultivating various vegetables.
