DDC Chairman Samba Officially Launches Mega Program At KVK Samba
Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies Jammu, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Samba organized a Mega Programme under the SCSP Project on 9th March 2023. More than 150 farmers from various villages in the district of Samba attended the programme.
Under the auspices of the Directorate of Extension, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies Jammu, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Samba organized a Mega Programme under the SCSP Project on 9th March 2023.
The programme was carried out under the dynamic leadership of Professor. N.A. Ganai, Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, and under the direction of Dr. S.K. Gupta, Director Extension SKUAST-Jammu, and the direct supervision of Dr. Sanjay Khajuria, Chief Scientist & Head KVK Samba.
More than 150 farmers from various villages in the district of Samba attended the programme. Prof. Sanjay Khajuria, Chief Scientist and Head of KVK Samba, welcomed all dignitaries and farmers/farm women from the district.
He elaborates on the various initiatives of KVK Samba aimed at increasing the livelihood security of the district's farming community. He also revealed that several new initiatives will be launched very soon for the benefit of society and farmers, particularly women from rural areas.
He also emphasized the importance of millets and the new area that will be covered by millets this year in order to increase millet production in the district.
Keshav Dutt Sharma, Chairman of District Development Council Samba, was the Chief Guest on this occasion, while Sh. Balwan Singh, Vice-Chairman DDC Samba, and Sh. Rajinder Singh, ADDC Samba was the Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Keshav Dutt Sharma praised the efforts of KVK Samba, led by Prof. Sanjay Khajuria and his team, in organizing such a large event for the district's farmers from the S.C. community.
He urged the farming community to keep in touch with the KVK Samba for any technical assistance needed to boost their agricultural economy.
Balwan Singh, Vice-Chairman DDC Samba, praised KVK Samba's contributions and efforts for the welfare of farmers, emphasizing that they are the ones who put their heart and soul into the soil to provide life and food for all of us.
Rajinder Singh, ADDC Samba, emphasized the KVK Samba's achievements in uplifting society's marginalized sections. He promised to assist KVK Samba as well as the district's farming community in any way he could.
Pritam Chand, Sarpanch Samlah, urged farmers to take advantage of the government's various initiatives for economic development. He advised them to keep in touch with the KVK Samba scientific community.
Dr. Neeraj Sharma, IQAC Coordinator at the Govt. MAM PG College Jammu encouraged farmers to use new technologies such as hydroponics and leaf mold/compost to increase their income.
Various exhibits such as bamboo handicrafts, seeds of various crops, specimens of vegetables, and farm machinery were also displayed during the programme to raise awareness among the district's farmers/farm women.
Dr. Sourav Gupta presided over the proceedings of the programme. Bharat Bhushan Stenographer, Tajinder Singh, and Pawandeep Singh of the KVK Samba are among those who actively contributed to the event's success. Pritam Chand Sarpanch Samlah concluded the programme with a vote of thanks.
