Severe Cyclone Biparjoy is anticipated to make its landfall near the Jakhau Port in Gujarat's Kachchh district this evening, as stated by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Moreover, the cyclone's intensity is projected to escalate as it approaches the Gujarat coast on June 15, isolated areas of Kachchh, Jamnagar, and Devbhumi Dwarka are expected to experience extremely heavy rainfall.

To ensure the safety of residents, a total of 74,435 individuals have been evacuated to secure locations in the eight districts of Gujarat most likely to be impacted by the cyclone. The Gujarat government reported the following evacuation figures: 4,604 in Junagadh, 34,300 in Kutch, 10,000 in Jamnagar, 3,469 in Porbandar, 5,035 in Devbhoomi Dwarka, 1,605 in Gir Somnath, 9,243 in Morbi, and 6,089 in Rajkot.

The impact of Cyclone Biparjoy extends beyond Gujarat, affecting weather conditions in neighboring states such as Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, and Delhi.

In response to the cyclone threat, a deployment of 33 teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been organized in Gujarat and Maharashtra. Of these teams, 18 are assigned to various districts of Gujarat, one is stationed in Diu, and 14 teams are positioned in Maharashtra.

The impact of Cyclone Biparjoy on other regions has also been outlined by meteorological authorities:

The influence of the cyclone is expected to bring rain accompanied by strong winds to the Delhi-NCR region. On June 15, rain and thunderstorms are forecasted for Udaipur and Jodhpur in Rajasthan, while winds ranging from 45 to 55 kmph are anticipated in the southwestern parts of the state on June 16. Until June 17, heavy rainfall is predicted in Jodhpur, Ajmer, Udaipur, and nearby areas.

Thunderstorms with lightning are likely in various districts of Madhya Pradesh, including Shahdol, Jabalpur, Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Khandwa, Khargone, Burhanpur, Sagar, Rewa, Satna, Chhatarpur, Raisen, Bhopal, and Sehore.

Furthermore, as a precautionary measure, Goa has temporarily closed its beaches to tourists. Home Minister Amit Shah has canceled his scheduled visit to Telangana on Thursday to supervise the rescue operations in cyclone-affected areas of Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan.

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning to fishermen, advising them not to venture along and off the north Gujarat coast from June 15-16 due to squally winds reaching speeds of 45-55 kmph, with gusts up to 65 kmph.

The weather agency has also cautioned about the likelihood of gale-force winds reaching speeds of 120-140 kmph, gusting up to 155 kmph in the affected areas. Fishing operations in the east-central and adjoining west-central Arabian Sea have been suspended until Thursday.

As Cyclone Biparjoy intensifies and approaches land, authorities, and disaster response teams are working diligently to minimize potential damage and ensure the safety of residents in the affected regions. Citizens are advised to follow official instructions and take necessary precautions to protect themselves and their properties during this severe weather event.
