Congress Govt To Launch an Initiative to Let Farmers Assess Damage To Crops On Their Own
Revenue Minister Ramlal Jat said that the new online system would provide transparency to the process. Also, the simplification of revenue rules and the making of a land conversion portal will benefit the agriculturists at the time of the harvesting of rabi crops.
Recently it was reported that the Congress government will shortly launch an initiative to enable farmers to assess the damage done by natural calamities to their crops on their own, and then report it to the revenue officials for releasing compensation in Rajasthan. A mobile phone application is being designed for an easy and comfortable online process.
At present, the Revenue Department does the exercise through a process called ‘Girdavari’. In this process, a village-level official records the crop loss and notes down the details of the owner of agricultural land, source of irrigation, name of the cultivator, and other essential information in the documents.
After this, the State government will take a decision on the amount of compensation in each district based on the report.
On Friday, Revenue Minister Ramlal Jat said that the new online system would provide transparency to the process. Also, the simplification of revenue rules and the making of a land conversion portal will benefit the agriculturists at the time of the harvesting of rabi crops.
The Rajasthan government has also initiated a new pasture land policy, in which a provision has been made to give lease deeds for land measuring up to 100 square meters.
Besides, the arrears of agriculture tax for the period before 2018-19 have been initiated and release has been given from land conversion for food processing units, charitable trusts, and hydrocarbon exploration.
