CM Yogi to Implement 'Mukhya Mantri Khet Suraksha Yojana' Statewide, to Allocate Rs 350 Crore
To ensure maximum farmer participation and minimize financial burdens, the government plans to provide substantial financial assistance to small and marginal farmers. This support seeks to empower farmers and enable them to safeguard their crops effectively, ultimately leading to increased agricultural productivity.
In a commendable effort to revolutionize agricultural practices and bolster the livelihoods of farmers, the Yogi government is set to expand the Mukhya Mantri Khet Suraksha Yojana across Uttar Pradesh. This visionary scheme, which has already made a positive impact in Bundelkhand, aims to protect crops from animal intrusions and mitigate the losses faced by farmers due to stray animals damaging standing crops.
The new initiative will witness a substantial budget increase, with the government proposing to allocate Rs 350 crore to the Mukhya Mantri Khet Suraksha Yojana. This marks a remarkable escalation from the initial budget of Rs 75 crore, reflecting the state government's unwavering commitment to supporting its farming community.
The core strategy of the Mukhya Mantri Khet Suraksha Yojana involves the installation of solar fences equipped with a gentle 12-volt current flow around agricultural fields. This humane yet effective measure acts as a deterrent, preventing animals like nilgai, monkeys, pigs, and wild boars from causing harm to standing crops. Upon touching the fence, animals receive a mild shock, effectively discouraging them from entering the protected areas.
To ensure maximum farmer participation and minimize financial burdens, the government plans to provide substantial financial assistance to small and marginal farmers. Under the scheme, eligible farmers will receive a grant of 60 percent or up to Rs 1.43 lakh per hectare to facilitate the installation of the solar fences. This support seeks to empower farmers and enable them to safeguard their crops effectively, ultimately leading to increased agricultural productivity.
With the proposal drafted by the Agriculture Department, the scheme is now awaiting cabinet approval before its statewide implementation. Once authorized, the Mukhya Mantri Khet Suraksha Yojana will be a resolute step forward in the government's mission to protect farmers' interests and elevate the agricultural landscape of Uttar Pradesh.
In parallel with this ambitious scheme, the Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Department has launched a crucial campaign to reclaim pasture lands from illegal encroachments. Recognizing the importance of well-maintained grazing areas, the initiative aims to ensure that animals have access to ample food sources, reducing their reliance on cultivated fields for sustenance. This proactive approach further strengthens the government's commitment to safeguarding agricultural interests and fostering a harmonious coexistence between farmers and the local ecosystem.
As the campaign continues its strides towards freeing encroached pasture lands and the Mukhya Mantri Khet Suraksha Yojana awaits cabinet approval, the Yogi government's steadfast dedication to uplifting farmers and securing their future is evident. These strategic endeavors not only aim to improve agricultural outcomes but also demonstrate the government's proactive stance in addressing crucial challenges faced by the farming community in Uttar Pradesh.
