The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, has announced the establishment of six poly-houses to boost the state's horticulture sector. Of the six, four will be located in project areas, while the remaining two will be in battalion headquarters. The Horticulture Department of the state will oversee the construction of the polyhouses.

During a recent event in Garhi Cantt, Dehradun, Dhami flagged off Bolero vehicles and motorcycles provided to the Eco Task Force through the Uttarakhand Horticulture Department. The Eco Task Force received two Bolero pickups and ten motorcycles.

The Public Works Department will provide two JCBs for 120 days to conserve rainwater before the onset of monsoon in both project areas. The Jal Jeevan Mission will oversee the construction of tanks with a capacity of 50,000 litres for water storage at Sahiya, Kasyali, and the battalion headquarters of the Eco Task Force.

Dhami said that an irrigation system will be set up in ten nurseries of the Eco Task Force, and the Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Agency (URDA) will install 100 kW solar panels at Dehradun, Sahiya, and Kasyali project sites. The proposals of the Eco Task Force will be given full priority in all government departments.

Dhami commended the 127 Eco Task Force, the first environmental unit of the state, which was established on December 1, 1982, at the Garhwal Rifles Regimental Center Lansdowne. He praised the Task Force for their work in environmental protection in the Garhwal region.

Since the establishment of the 127 Eco Task Force, over 1,200 ex-servicemen of Uttarakhand state have planted around 1 crore 98 lakh plants on about 20,698 hectares of land in Tehri, Chamoli, Dehradun, and border areas of Mana and Malari.

Dhami has instructed the Forest Department to give consent for an extension of FEA for four funded companies of 127 and 130 Eco Task Force for five years. He added that the state government is continuously working in the field of environmental protection, with the Eco Task Force receiving continuous support. The government is working towards making Uttarakhand the best state, Dhami concluded.
