On Tuesday, after inaugurating a convention of beneficiaries of State and Union Government schemes in Ilkal in the Hungund Assembly constituency, Bommai stated that Hungund is an important centre known for the Ilkal sarees and that the granite found here is exported to international markets.

He attributed the current Bharatiya Janata Party government's record development in agriculture and industry. In Hungund taluk, the Kisan Sanman scheme has reached 36,598 farmers. According to Bommai, Rs 30,000 crore has been set aside for the SCSP/ TSP act. There are plans to build 100 Ambedkar and 50 Kanakadasa hostels. In addition, five mega hostels are being constructed.
