Chautala: Farmers Will Receive 9% Interest If Procurement Payment Is Delayed
The government's previous initiative of transferring procurement payments directly to the farmers' accounts has been successful, and they will continue to follow the same pattern during the kharif procurement. The payment will be transferred to the farmers' bank accounts within 48-72 hours.
During a press briefing on Saturday, Dushyant Chautala, the Deputy Chief Minister of Haryana, announced that if there are any delays in the payment of foodgrains procurement to farmers, the state government will pay them an interest of 9%.
He also mentioned that the government's previous initiative of transferring procurement payments directly to the farmers' accounts has been successful, and they will continue to follow the same pattern during the kharif procurement. The payment will be transferred to the farmers' bank accounts within 48-72 hours.
Additionally, he stated that in case of any payment delay, the farmers will receive their payment along with the 9% interest.
According to him, the state has established 408-grain markets to purchase wheat, 102 for mustard, 11 for pulses, and 25 for barley. Currently, the grain markets have received approximately 150,000 metric tonnes of wheat, with 18,000 metric tonnes already procured. The government agencies procured 67 lakh metric tonnes of wheat last year.
Despite crop damage from hailstorms this year, the same amount is anticipated to be procured. The state government has ensured sufficient measures are in place to obtain 76 lakh metric tonnes of wheat.
Dushyant stated that a three-stage drone mapping project has been successfully conducted in 6,260 villages across 22 districts to eradicate the "lal-dora" system. As a result, approximately 25.14 lakh property identifications have been created, with 23.94 lakhs of those already handed over to their respective owners. The remaining 5% of the property IDs will be finalized within the next two to three months.
