Centre Approves Rs 951 Crore Loan for Farm Machinery Bank & More Development Projects in Uttarakhand

Focusing on skill development and entrepreneurship, the loan includes Rs 25.91 crore for establishing a skill hub at Sahaspur, which will equip the youth with essential skills for better employment prospects. In a significant boost to Uttarakhand's development endeavours, the Union Finance Ministry has granted special assistance in the form of a loan amounting to Rs 951 crore for 48 crucial projects in the state. The loan aims to strengthen various sectors, including infrastructure, healthcare, education, and rural development, thereby uplifting the quality of life for the people of Uttarakhand.

The approved allocations encompass a wide array of projects that will address key developmental needs in the state. Notable among them is the allocation of Rs 110 crore for improving drinking water facilities in rural areas, as part of the Jal Jeevan Mission. This initiative is expected to enhance access to clean and safe drinking water for the rural population, leading to improved health and well-being.

In an effort to bolster the education sector, the loan includes Rs 61 crore for the upgradation of a Model College in Nainital. This investment will contribute to the enhancement of educational infrastructure and learning opportunities for the youth in the region.

In the healthcare domain, Rs 60 crore has been allocated for the addition of 500 beds at Doon Medical College, augmenting the healthcare capacity to meet the growing demands. Additionally, Rs 33.98 crore has been allotted for further development at the Doon Medical College campus, aiming to create a modern healthcare facility.

The loan also emphasizes the importance of connectivity and rural development. To enhance rural road connectivity, Rs 56 crore has been granted for the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) state share. Moreover, Rs 55 crore has been dedicated to the Roorkee-Deoband rail line, which is expected to enhance transportation and connectivity in the region.

Urban infrastructure has also received attention, with Rs 25 crore allocated for the construction of Tanakpur ISBT and a bus depot in Dehradun, which will contribute to better public transportation facilities.

In an effort to improve sanitation and hygiene in urban areas, the allocation of Rs 20.16 crore has been made for the Almora sewerage scheme.

Expressing gratitude, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami extended thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for their support and approval of the special assistance. He emphasized the significance of these projects in advancing the state's progress and ensuring the well-being of its citizens.

The infusion of financial aid into these diverse projects is expected to accelerate Uttarakhand's growth trajectory and lay the foundation for a prosperous and sustainable future.
