At the 2024 NCBA Cattle Con in Orlando, Case IH unveiled a revolutionary baler automation system that provides a hands-free operation and consistent, high-quality large square bales, regardless of operator experience. This innovative technology is set to boost efficiency and productivity for farmers everywhere.

The dealer-installed automation kit seamlessly connects with Class 3 ISOBUS Puma, Optum, and Magnum tractors, offering compatibility with HD models from 2020-2024 and XL models from 2022-2024.

Brian Spencer, Case IH's hay and forage marketing manager, emphasized the pivotal role of productivity in the demanding schedules of hay producers. According to him, baler automation epitomizes purposeful technology from Case IH, relieving operators of the responsibility to steer and make adjustments in the field. This, in turn, allows them to enhance productivity while comfortably situated in the cab.

Distinguishing itself as the industry's first LiDAR (light detection and ranging) baling system, Case IH's baler automation leverages laser pulses for swath analysis. This advanced technology measures windrow position and size, adjusting tractor speed and steering to optimize throughput without overwhelming the baler. The result is extended runtime compared to traditional baling methods.

Automatic adjustments and hands-free baling mean less experienced operators can confidently handle the equipment or experienced operators can redirect their focus to broader farm operations.
