Canada-based Man Purchase Tractor Worth Rs 11.5 Lakh to Aid Flood Relief Efforts in Punjab
The tractor provided by Manpreet Singh and his family has already been put to work at the breach site, further strengthening the resolve of the volunteers and officials to combat the devastating effects of the floods.
In a heartwarming display of solidarity and generosity, a Toronto resident, Manpreet Singh (27), along with his family, has extended a helping hand to the flood-affected areas in Punjab. Despite being thousands of miles away in Canada, Manpreet and his family have stepped up to support the ongoing relief efforts by purchasing a new tractor worth Rs 11.5 lakh for use at a breach site on the Satluj River.
The breach on the Satluj River has caused significant damage to the region, prompting local volunteers and authorities to work tirelessly in attempts to plug the 900-foot-long breach. While one breach has already been successfully plugged within five days by dedicated volunteers, the effort continues to mend the damage caused by the second breach.
Manpreet Singh, who originally hails from Bara Jagir village in Lohian block of Jalandhar, expressed his admiration for the relentless efforts of the community members working in the sweltering heat to resolve the crisis. He shared his family's ongoing contributions to the relief efforts, including delivering food, water bottles, and diesel to support the heavy machinery being used at the breach site.

Realizing the significance of tractors in the restoration process, Manpreet suggested to his family that they purchase one to provide immediate aid at the breach site. Without hesitation, his mother Kamaljeet Kaur and brother Jaskaran Singh agreed and promptly acquired a Holland 3630 Special Edition tractor from a local dealer in Jalandhar.
On Friday, the tractor was handed over to Rajya Sabha member Balbir Singh Seechewal, who has been actively involved in coordinating the relief operations in the area. Recognizing the versatility of the tractor, Manpreet emphasized that it could also be utilized for other community projects by Baba Seechewal in the future.

Despite being far from his homeland, his connection to his roots and concern for the welfare of his people motivated him and his family to contribute to the flood relief efforts.
The tractor provided by Manpreet Singh and his family has already been put to work at the breach site, further strengthening the resolve of the volunteers and officials to combat the devastating effects of the floods. Their selfless act serves as a shining example of how compassion and unity can bridge the distance and make a significant impact on the lives of those facing adversity.
As the restoration work continues, the people of Punjab are grateful for the support they have received, and Manpreet's contribution stands as a testament to the power of collective action in times of crisis.
