Bihar to Launch New Scheme, Land On Lease To Gain High Seed Production
Bihar to soon launch scheme facilitating land on lease to farmers for high yield and seed production. Bihar Government is planning to launch a new project under the fourth edition of the agricultural roadmap.
The Bihar Government is planning to launch its fourth edition of the agricultural roadmap, in the month of April this year. Under this, a new scheme has been prepared which aims at providing land on lease for attaining high seed production.
This scheme will facilitate agricultural land on lease to private agencies under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode for setting up seed production units.
Agriculture Minister Kumar Sarvjeet told that “ They will provide land on lease to interested firms under PPP mode for attaining higher yield and seed production for different food grains. The government would purchase 50 % of the produced seeds from organizations as rent for the leased land”.
The minister also added, “The government will anticipate subsidies in purchasing storage equipment so that it will easy to elevate the plants”. He also told that rules are being formed for the scheme. This scheme will definitely boost the farm sector across states and henceforth will improve the conditions.
Officials stated that the subsidized seeds have been dispensed by the state agriculture department to the registered farmers and its initiative of providing seeds to farmers at the doorstep has resulted in a positive response from the farmers, especially during the Kharif season during the pandemic time.
Officials also told that there has been increasing in seed budget production in the last few years. The rise in higher productivity of seeds from different foodgrains has resulted in boosting the economy.
Also, there has been increasing in rice production from 2022-23 with a margin of 60-62 lakh metric tonnes although final records are still awaited. According to the officials, the wheat production is estimated to be increased by 70 lakh metric tonnes, which is four lakh tonnes higher than in the year 2021-22”.
