A series of Christmas tractors decorated with festive lights broke through northern Oxfordshire for help.

Banbury's Christmas Tractor Run, which is back on Saturday for its sixth year, has raised more than £ 50,000 so far at the Katharine House hospice.

Facilitator Jenny Steenkamp said tractor drivers had made "incredible efforts" to decorate their vehicles.

The event was limited to 100 entrants and started at Spring Hill Farm in Barford St Michael.

Farm vehicles were met by throngs of people as they passed South Newington, Milcombe, Bloxham, Milton, Adderbury, Aynho, Clifton, Deddington and Hempton.

Ms Steenkamp, commercial manager of agricultural contractors RC Baker, said: “They are making a lot of effort and it is amazing to see.

"Before the convoy goes, I wait at first, so many tractors pass by sitting on the tractor. You just get blown away by what they come up with every year. It's unbelievable."

He added: “British farmers work hard all year round and actually get a lot of pressure most of the time because they can grab someone with a tractor.

"So, showcasing their tractors and lifting people up for something fun while raising money for a good cause is really good for everyone."
