ASSOCHAM Organises Conference on Millet Value Chain in Kochi
The conference, held at the Gokulam Park Convention Centre, featured the theme 'Strengthening the millets value chain.' Panel discussions were also held on various aspects of millet farming, such as strategies for area expansion and yield enhancement.

On May 12, the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) and the Kerala State Development Council organised a two-day conference on the millet value chain in Kochi, in collaboration with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, the Government of Kerala, and the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development. Grant Thornton, the Indian Institute of Millets Research, and Nutri Hub sponsored the event.
The conference was launched by M.B. Rajesh, Minister of Local Self-Government, and P. Prasad, Minister of Agriculture. Among those in attendance were, B. Ashok, Kerala's Agricultural Production Commissioner, Sreemathi Ghosh, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Food Processing & Jafar Malik, Executive Director of the Kudumbashree Mission.

Following the inauguration, a panel discussion on creating an enabling policy environment for millets was held, with Anju K.S., Director of the Kerala Department of Agriculture Development and Farmers' Welfare, and C. Anandharamakrishnan, Director of the CSIR National Institute of Interdisciplinary Science and Technology, as panellists.

P. Rajeev, Minister of Law, Industries, and Coir, will give a special address during the valedictory session on May 13.
