Argentina's Agriculture Attaché Seeks Knowledge Exchange in India
Mariano Beharan's visit signifies the importance of international collaboration in agriculture and the potential for Argentina and India to learn from each other's experiences for the betterment of their respective agricultural sectors.
In an endeavor to foster international cooperation and enhance agricultural practices, Mariano Beharan, Agriculture Attaché of the Embassy of Argentina, embarked on a mission to India, where he shared his thoughts on the development of the agricultural sector. His visit at Krishi Jagran headquarter was warmly received by Krishi Jagran's Editor-in-Chief, MC Dominic, and Managing Director, Shiny Dominic.
During this meeting, as a symbol of friendship and goodwill, the guest was presented with a plant pot while Mr. Beharan reciprocated the gesture by gifting MC Dominic with a Messi jersey.
Mr. Beharan, in his address, expressed Argentina's keen interest in drawing from India's rich and diverse agricultural experience. Despite being the eighth largest country in the world, he emphasized the numerous advantages of knowledge transfer to a nation like India with an extensive agricultural landscape. Agriculture plays a pivotal role in Argentina's economy, and they have enjoyed substantial success in agricultural production. Nonetheless, Mr. Beharan acknowledged the significance of exploring farming systems from various countries, particularly India, and the cultivation of different crop species.

He also lauded the remarkable transformations that have unfolded in India's agricultural sector over the last decade, praising the development and innovation in agricultural systems, which he views as a model for other countries.
Mr. Beharan's visit extended to the MS Swaminathan Research Foundation in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, a renowned institution founded by the late scientist and Green Revolution pioneer, MS Swaminathan. The institute is celebrated for its invaluable contributions to Indian agriculture and, as Mr. Beharan highlighted, its role in meeting the needs of farmers. His personal visit to the MS Swaminathan Research Institute left him deeply impressed by the facility and its contributions to Indian agriculture.

During his trip, Mr. Beharan engaged in discussions with Indian farmers and agricultural researchers, with a particular focus on Tamil Nadu.
