AP Govt to Distribute Agri Machinery Worth Rs 250 Crore in Second Phase
During the first phase, tractors and agricultural machinery were given to 60% of the targeted groups. In the upcoming final phase, the remaining 40% will receive agricultural machinery at reduced prices with government subsidies.
The Agriculture Department is preparing to launch the second phase of YSR Yantra Seva, which involves providing tractors and other agricultural machinery to groups of farmers known as Custom Hiring Centres. This second and final phase is expected to be initiated in June.
During the first phase, tractors and agricultural machinery were given to 60% of the targeted groups. In the upcoming final phase, the remaining 40% will receive agricultural machinery at reduced prices with government subsidies.
While talking to TNIE, Ch Hari Kiran, Special Commissioner of Agriculture Department, stated that the projected cost for the second phase is expected to range from Rs 250 crore to Rs 300 crore, with a subsidy amount of Rs 120 crore.
“In the initial stage, farmers will have the option to choose the brand of tractors they prefer, and subsequently, vehicles will be allocated to the CHCs (Community Health Centers) based on different RBKs (Rural Backward Blocks) and clusters,” he commented further.
During the initial stage of Yantra Seva which began in June of the previous year, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister, distributed 3,800 tractors and 320 combine harvesters to 3,800 Yantra Seva Centers and 320 cluster-level CHCs. In addition, he transferred a subsidy of Rs 175.61 crore to the bank accounts of 5,400 groups of farmers in the State.
Farmers' groups are operating Custom Hiring Centres, and the government intends to aid them by providing 50% of bank loans at a reduced interest rate. In addition, the government will grant a 40% subsidy to assist them in purchasing the farm equipment of their preference.
During a recent review meeting, officials informed the Chief Minister that a total of 3,954 Rural Block (RBK) level Community Health Centers (CHCs) and 194 cluster-level CHCs would receive agriculture machinery under the YSR Yantra Seva scheme. The main goal of this scheme is to mechanize farming processes to tackle the shortage of farm labor and the increasing costs associated with it.
