Andhra Pradesh to Promote FPOs for Remunerative Prices and Export Opportunities in Agriculture and Horticulture Products
GAP certification will enable farmers to export their produce to approximately 100 countries. FPOs will play a crucial role in sourcing products from small farmers.

Minister of Agriculture & Cooperation, Marketing, and Food Processing Kakani Govardhan Reddy has announced the promotion of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) in Andhra Pradesh, following the model of Self Help Groups (SHGs). The objective is to assist farmers in obtaining fair prices for their produce and exploring domestic and export markets.
In a workshop organized by Andhra Pradesh State Organic Products Certification Authority (APSOPCA) and The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Govardhan Reddy, Minister of Agriculture & Cooperation, Marketing, and Food Processing emphasized the significance of remunerative prices for the vast range of horticulture and agriculture products produced in the state. The FPOs will play a crucial role in sourcing products from small farmers on a large scale and trading them in both domestic and export markets.
He added that the State government's Good Agriculture Practices (GAP) certification will enable farmers to export their produce to approximately 100 countries, ensuring increased profitability. Additionally, the certification opens opportunities to export organic produce. Andhra Pradesh, known for cultivating over 135 varieties of crops, aims to expand its export destinations beyond the Middle East, South East, and South Asian countries.
