In Andhra Pradesh, Srikakulam district SC Farmers have prioritized practicing Zero Budget Natural Farming. The SC Corporation of Srikakulam has extended its help through financial assistance in practicing ZBNF.
Farmers from the Scheduled Caste Communities are giving more priority to Zero Budget Natural Farming. The SC Corporation of Srikakulam has extended its help through financial assistance in practicing ZBNF. The initial production is very low but once it becomes stable, they give a good yield boost to the farmers.
Recently Kancharana Ramarao, executive director of the Corporation addressed that ₹ 10,000 financial assistance be aided to the selected farmers to promote the practice of ZBNF by farmers. Around 1300 farmers have been chosen for financial assistance through the corporation. They could also get training facilities from Agriculture and Horticulture Department. This planning would prevent and render the excessive use of pesticides and fertilizers which had contaminated and deteriorated soil quality.
Officials also said, “ If ZBNF is properly practiced it could rejuvenate and recover around,5000 acres of land to get it more fertile and healthy”.
A farmer named Hariprasad said that SC Corporation has helped him in improving the yield from this ZBNF. He also told that for the past six years, there has been a high rise in prices of pesticides by 50% yet there are fewer profits attained. Through ZNFB, they are expecting to gain huge yields and high profits.
Another farmer Boddepalli Sitaramaiah of Jarajam village of Etcherla Mandal told that this financial assistance has helped him to learn the preparation of manure and natural liquid fertilizer-Jeevamritam . This would help in improving soil fertility.
Ramarao also told that they had received several farmer's applications for financial assistance. He told that “They are planning to extend support to additional 2000 farmers in this new innovative program. We will continue to extend our support for agriculture and allied activities, including dairy development.”
